This two-part workshop will provide students with intensive hands-on experience working with Sketchup through a guided exercise that will not only build their skills with the tool, but also help them think through the conceptual and physical logistics of exhibition design.

Part 1: Design and Development (½ day workshop): Tuesday, February 19, 4:15- 5:45
In this first portion of the workshop students will be encouraged to contemplate alternate connections between exhibition objects, groupings, display tactics, and design choices from the spring exhibitions in order to begin conceptualizing a new exhibition of their own design. Participants will create a preliminary floor plan sketch and an object list for their one room remixed exhibition. Once completed students will begin implementing their design in Sketchup.

Part 2: Build and Showcase: Tuesday, March 5, 4:15- 5:45
Using their exhibition draft created in Part 1 of the workshop, students will continue to build out their 1 room exhibition design using Sketchup. During this time, students will be able to consult with workshop instructors on implementing their ideas as well as any technical issues/questions that they might have. Finally each participant will present their exhibition to the group.

Prerequisite: Intro to Sketchup
Students should be familiar with Sketchup and have a basic working knowledge of how to create and position objects in an existing floor plan model. An Intro to Sketchup course will be offered shortly before this advanced workshop for those that wish to attend and do not have experience with the program.

Exhibition Tour
Students should attend a tour of the spring exhibitions at the BGC gallery. This tour will help participants gain an understanding of the curatorial intent and design of these exhibitions. Students are encouraged to take images of objects and design decisions that they might wish to use.
